Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut

The new Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut provides a temporary home to families of children with serious illnesses being treated within the Yale New Haven Healthcare system. The need for a larger facility brought this strategically chosen team together to design and build a new, warm, and welcoming environment.

This 28,000-square-foot home greets families and visitors with its inviting exterior through the use of different colored stucco, playful sculptures, and a walkway made of donor bricks. A rear courtyard made up of a large patio and play area provides a peaceful setting for guests. Inside boasts a large commercial kitchen, pantry, dining/lounge area where families can interact and cook side-by-side, a glassed-in play room, a teen room, meeting and office spaces, a reception/lobby, two respite rooms, guest bedrooms with private baths, laundry facilities, and sunrooms. The scope also included preconstruction, demolition of six buildings, and custom millwork throughout.
